We Are Updating Our Mask Requirements!

As of June 21st, South Arlington Fitness & Nutrition will no longer require masks for customers who are fully vaccinated*!

With the CDC's recent recommendations around wearing masks while vaccinated, and the weekly COVID case totals in Northern VA being as low as they were in early February of last year, we at SAFN have decided to move into our Phase II of easing COVID precautions.

We hadn't originally anticipated things going this well by now. In fact, we had only planned on eliminating temperature checks and resuming equipment sharing in workouts. But we've now decided to follow the lead of many stores and major retailers by also removing mask requirements for fully vaccinated customers.

Here is a list of COVID policy changes that will go into effect on Monday June 21st:

1. If you are fully vaccinated, you will no longer be required to wear a mask at the gym. You do not need to provide the gym with proof of vaccination. We invite anyone who is not fully vaccinated to keep the health of the community in mind and wear a mask according to our current policy (mask on through the warmup, off for the workout, then on again for cooldown & exit).

2. Our coaching staff is fully vaccinated and our staff members will no longer be required to wear a mask while coaching.

3. Temperature checks will be eliminated.

4. We will gradually re-introduce group workouts with planned equipment sharing (station-based or partner style).

In case you were wondering, the policies and procedures that will remain in plain for the foreseeable future are:
- Class caps
- Class reservations through the app (with the current late cancellation policy)
- Assigned squares (we will resume workouts with movement in/out of the squares, but the squares will remain for spacing purposes)
- The current Open Gym schedule along with pack purchasing in the app

We have found that all the above policies have allowed us and our staff to run a much more streamlined operation, with better floor management, smoother classes, and ultimately a much improved client experience.

We've said it before, and we'll say it again. We deeply appreciate your patience and flexibility over the past year and more. We've come a long way since the beginning of the pandemic, and might never forget some of the lowest points of 2020, but we're damn sure excited to see everyone's faces and act like normal humans again. Health & fitness has never been more important.

Onwards to a great summer!

*Fully vaccinated: having received the second dose of Pfizer/Moderna or the single dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least 14 days prior.
